This Privacy Policy explains how Happy Birthday Extension ("we", "our", "the extension") handles information when you use our Chrome extension and the website at happybirthdayextension.com.

What the extension does

Happy Birthday Extension automatically posts birthday messages on your Facebook friends' walls, or sends them as direct messages, on their birthdays. It runs entirely inside your own Chrome browser.

What data we collect

Stored locally on your device

The extension stores the following data locally in your browser using Chrome's storage.local API. This data never leaves your device and is not visible to us:

• Your custom birthday message templates
• Friends you have added to your blacklist (names and Facebook profile URLs)
• A history of birthday messages the extension has sent on your behalf
• Your extension settings (delivery method, daily message cap, send delay range)
• The schedule of pending birthday sends for the current day

Account data

When you sign up for a paid subscription, we collect:

• Your email address (used to authenticate your subscription and send you product communications)
• Subscription status (whether you have an active trial, monthly, annual, or lifetime plan)

This information is stored in our backend (Supabase) so the extension can verify your subscription status. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store your payment card details. Email delivery is handled by Brevo.

Facebook data

The extension reads the following information from Facebook pages you visit (only when you have the extension enabled and have authorized it to run on facebook.com):

• Names and profile URLs of friends whose birthdays are today (read from facebook.com/events/birthdays)
• The composer or message input on those pages, in order to type and send your custom birthday message

This Facebook data is read in your browser, used immediately to perform the birthday send, and is not transmitted to our servers. The history of who you sent messages to is stored locally on your device only.

What we do not do

• We do not sell, share, or transfer your personal data to third parties for marketing purposes.
• We do not collect or transmit your Facebook friends' personal information to our servers.
• We do not track your browsing activity outside of facebook.com.
• We do not use your data to train any machine learning model.
• We do not access any Facebook pages other than the birthdays page and the chat overlays needed to send messages.

Permissions the extension requests

• Storage: to save your settings, message templates, and history locally.
• Tabs: to open and close Facebook tabs as part of the daily send process.
• Alarms: to schedule when birthday sends should fire each day.
• Scripting: to run the extension's logic on facebook.com pages.
• Host permissions for facebook.com: so the extension can read birthday information and post messages on your behalf.

Third-party services

The website and subscription system use:

• Stripe for payment processing — see Stripe's privacy policy.
• Supabase for backend storage of subscription records — see Supabase's privacy policy.
• Brevo for transactional and marketing emails — see Brevo's privacy policy.
• Google Analytics 4 and Facebook Pixel on the marketing website only (not inside the extension) — these are used for understanding website traffic and measuring ad effectiveness.

Your rights

You can:

• Clear all extension data at any time using the "Clear all" button in the History tab and toggling the extension off.
• Uninstall the extension from chrome://extensions, which removes all locally stored data.
• Request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing the contact below.

Children

The extension is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify users by email.
